Book Review: When The Moon Hits Your Eye

When the Moon Hits Your EyeWhen the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve always enjoyed watching a book plot paint itself into a corner. The fun is watching them get out of that corner. Author John Scalzi’s managed to carve his way into the middle of a cheese round, and there’s fun ahead as we wait for him to find a way out of it.

In the meantime, there’s lots of cheese and plenty of characters chewing on its meaning. I enjoyed flitting from one situation to the next, seeing this global conundrum’s affect on individuals, from the average everyday people on up to the top of the power heap. Little slices… no, wedges, of life as it copes with the most improbably change that humankind has ever seen.

Does the author pull off the stunt? Has he finally reached too far? Do you prefer Stilton or Cheddar? So many questions. Some will be answered, others can’t be. I won’t tell you how it ends of course, but I’ll just say that I really enjoyed this crazy, whey-out adventure.

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of Mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables and herbs when she’s not writing, editing, or playing games with a cat named Chives.
