Book Review: The Open Door Gourmet

The Open Door GourmetThe Open Door Gourmet by Mark Edward Webb
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The best way to learn to cook is to bring an accomplished gourmet into your kitchen to teach and advise you. The second best way is to open this cookbook, where you will get the same experience in book form. Mark Webb’s advice is not the least bit intimidating. If you first read the warm, friendly and helpful introduction, then cook many of his delicious recipes, you too will become a gourmet. Guaranteed.

I would not hesitate to gift this book to someone just starting out on their own. It’s approachable and understandable enough for those still learning their way around a kitchen, while at the same time presents plenty of tempting dishes to shake up the routines of experienced cooks.

ProTip: The seafood section is incredible!

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of Mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables and herbs when she’s not writing, editing, or playing games with a cat named Chives.
