Book Review: Terry Pratchett: A Life With Footnotes

I’ve read quite a few biographies in my life. Most were written by starstruck biographers who could only see the talent, the striving, the beauty, the success of their chosen subject. That gets old, fast.

This deep dive into Terry Pratchett’s life was written by a friend, who’s also a realist and knows that life isn’t always shiny. He tells what feels like a balanced account of a man whose written works are dearly loved by so many.

It’s a big book. It took me a while to read. It’s one to pick up when you have a bit of time and read a snippet or two. It’s well worth your patience, though.

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of Mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables and herbs when she’s not writing, editing, or playing games with a cat named Chives.
