Book Review: Lost My Mind Here Someplace
Lost My Mind Here Someplace: A Memoir by Arune SavageMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Arūnė Savage may be a first-time author, but she absolutely blew me away with her vibrant, professional writing style. She expresses herself so well that it’s impossible not to become immersed in the story of her life. This is the most realistic, painful, and yet somehow endearing memoir I have ever read, and I’ve read quite a few.
At a time in history when immigration is a sore spot in many countries, especially America, I challenge you to view it from a perspective outside your own experience. Arūnė shows you life in Lithuania, South Africa, and both coasts of the USA through her own experiences. If you’ve ever held an opinion on immigration, you owe it to yourself to understand what it’s like from various angles. This memoir will go a long way towards rounding out your knowledge of the immigration experience. Americans especially will also learn some hard truths about their own country. I know I did.
Does the story end well? Perhaps. The author’s story is not yet over, but I’ve got faith in her to find her own happily ever after. If anyone can, it’s her.
