Book Review: Alfie the Doorstep Cat

Alfie the Doorstep Cat (Alfie #1)Alfie the Doorstep Cat by Rachel Wells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a lifelong Cat Person, and more recently a “community cat” caretaker, I’m sympathetic to stories about homeless cats. Alfie’s story is told in a First Person narrative… or should that be Furst Purrson?

Since Alife is a cat, the narrative is simple, gentle, and heartfelt, lacking the overblown style of a human critter. For the first part of the story, the narrative is heartbreaking, and may even make you angry at humans. As Alfie finds his way, that same gentle tone is perfect for the new situation(s) he finds himself in.

Once you start – be warned – you won’t be able to stop until you know how everything turns out.

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of Mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables and herbs when she’s not writing, editing, or playing games with a cat named Chives.
