A Very Bookish Christmas

My little Christmas book haul. Read more about each of them below!

The Open Door Gourmet is a tribute to Mark Edward Webb, who is credited as being the author. Mark actually passed away from cancer a few years ago and his wife Christina gathered all his recipes and made this book. All proceeds get donated to cancer research.

Tastes and Tales from The Travelers Club International Restaurant and Tuba Museum is about a real place that was not far from us in Okemos, Michigan. Sadly, it was torn down for a project that failed to happen. The land is still bare. I thank it for good memories whenever we drive by.

Lastly, Folk Tales of Japan. I can’t get enough of Kyota Ko’s YouTube videos. The guy is mesmerizing in that way that absolutely crazy-bonkers high-energy people can be. Hunt him up on YouTube, just search Kyota Ko. He’s written four books about Japanese history, and if I love this first book as much as I think I will, I’ll be getting the other three. You know what else is so great about these books? They are all indie books. Published by the authors, not some big publishing house that would hoard the profits and ignore any stylistic wishes of the author. And they are all first-class books. Indie doesn’t mean amateur. It just means the author has taken the reins on how their book will come to life. Buy indie!

Lori Alden Holuta lives between the cornfields of Mid-Michigan, where she grows vegetables and herbs when she’s not writing, editing, or playing games with a cat named Chives.
