It’s so easy! Don’t be shocked, but there are literally only four ingredients. NO additional spices or embellishments are necessary. And to add to the shock value, all the ingredients are convenience foods, and the end result isn’t a sodium riot.
These tots are best served straight out of the oven, with only enough cooling time to avoid burning mouths. The crunch and flavor are utterly satisfying. You can, of course, dunk them in ketchup or your favorite dips if you like, but they are absolutely delicious on their own.

Homemade refried beans require little effort, but do need a long, lazy simmer on the back of the stove.
